Local Economic Development (LED) Office
The Office of Local Economic Development carries out activities on local economic development in cooperation with USAID upon the signing of the Memorandum of Understaning for the fulfillment of the MEGA (Municipal Economy Growth Activity) Program on March 16 2007 between the President of the Municipality of Leskovac and the Ambassador of the United States of America. During the period between the signing of the Memorandum and the official inauguration of LED, all program activities were carried out by the working group for LED.
The Office for Local Economic Development, as a department of the Fund for the development of the city of Leskovac represents the organizational unit which, on behalf of the local government, carries out activities on local economic development, in cooperation with USAID, in compliance with the MoU, in the fulfillment of the MEGA (Municipal Economy Growth Activity) Program, between the City of Leskovac and the Embassy of the United States of America.
The basic goal of the MEGA Program, which is financed by the United States of America Agency for International Development (USAID) is to increase the ability of local government and economic organizations to encourage economic development, the creation of new jobs, the application of innovating projects in practice, to attract investors, as well as creating a favorable business climate for the development of the private sector.
During the implementation of the program, USAID provides technical and material support to the City, with the help of teams of professionals. The activities of the teams will be directed towards achieving the goals of the Program.
